Kids choose best art in show

 

A bunch of school kids will confer a special honour on an unsuspecting artist today when they select the winner of the “Kids Choice Award” at the 2008 ACT for Kids Art Exhibition at Brisbane’s Riverside Centre.

 

The 120 children in grades 4, 5 and 6 from Oakleigh State School in Ashgrove will take a field trip to Eagle Street to view more than 250 artworks displayed in the building’s foyer before choosing their favourite. (read more...)

 

 

ACT for Kids brand built on years of Trust

 

The Abused Child Trust, one of Australia’s longest serving child protection organisations, has marked 20 years helping families in crisis by adopting a more positive and dynamic trading name.

 

Abused Child Trust co-founder and Chairman, Dr David Wood, announced that the organisation would be known from this day forward as “ACT for Kids” to reflect changing public opinions about child protection. (read more...)

 

 

New program to cut youth crime

 

The Abused Child Trust has revealed ambitious plans to prevent young people from entering a life of crime when it launches an innovative program for youth at risk in the state’s Far North next month.

 

Communities Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr today announced $1.175M per annum to the organisation so it can establish a Young Offender Community Response Service for children and adolescents (aged 8-15) who have had early brushes with the law. (read more...)
